Parades grew out of two worlds that continue to shape me: my childhood in Senegal and the folklore of Belgium, where I’ve lived for many years. The songs don’t try to reconcile these places so much as let them coexist, allowing memories, rhythms and images from both to find a common language.

Hellos and Goodbyes

Hellos and Goodbyes emerged at a time when I was deeply involved in noise and experimental music through the duo Five Minutes to Eat Jack. While those projects allowed me to explore sound in new ways, I gradually felt the need to reconnect with a more personal relationship to music.

That path naturally led me back to the folk music I had always loved, but also to the sounds that had shaped my childhood while living in Senegal. Those influences resurfaced quietly, not as references to imitate, but as part of a musical language that had never really left me.

The album was written during a period of profound personal change. Looking back, it feels like a record of transition as much as a collection of songs.

It also owes a great deal to my friendship with Jens, whose encouragement and involvement were invaluable in bringing these recordings to life.

Delgado Jones & Loïc Joseph

Delgado Jones and Loïc Joseph is the result of a friendship that began in Brussels in the early 2010s. Written between 2017 and 2024, these songs travelled back and forth between Brittany and Belgium, becoming our way of staying connected despite seeing each other only once or twice a year. Over time, they grew into what feels like a shared record, shaped equally by both of us.
